Dear Donor Family,
Earlier this year, I received a liver transplant, a gift of life from you and your loved one. My liver failed suddenly a week or so earlier, for reasons that are still unknown. I was a few hours from death when my family was notified that a liver was available.
I wish to offer my sincere condolences for your loss, and my eternal gratitude for your kindness. I wake up each morning with my donor on my mind and in my heart.
I am a 58 year old woman with a husband and two adult children. Because of your compassion I will live to meet my grandchildren, grow old with my husband, care for others professionally, and give back to my community in Northern California. I would welcome contact with you but respect your privacy completely, and understand that you are grieving a terrible loss. Either way, you have my eternal gratitude.
