Dear Donor Family,

I am writing to thank you from the bottom of my heart for this wonderful and amazing gift you have given me and my family—most importantly, my children who need their mother. You have given me another chance in life, something I did not think I was going to get before the day I got the call. It was a bittersweet moment for me. I knew someone had lost their life to give me life again, and for that I will forever be thankful.

I had been on PD for over 6 years. It was hard at first being a single mother of children and on dialysis, but within time, I learned to accept that that would be my life for the rest of my life, but then you gave me the most precious gift.

Thank you again from my family, children and … Read more »

“Why six years later? I’ve bought many cards to mail out, and each time I would get a pen and paper I would break down and cry”

Dear Family,

I am writing this letter because six years ago your family member gave me the opportunity to live again! And with each breath I’ve taken its been with the help of your lost one. I am truly sorry for your loss. And there is not a day that goes by in which I as well as my family do not pray to the Lord for him/her—as well as for you and your family!

I lost the function of my kidneys due to battling with diabetes for over 30 years. Once I had my kidney transplant, I was given another opportunity to live my life normally and to be thankful for the smallest things in this world, for which I am forever grateful.

With the blessing of my kidney transplant I’ve had the privilege to walk two of my daughters down the aisle for their … Read more »

Dear Donor Family,

Greetings. First, I’m very sorry for your loss, but your loved one’s organ donation saved my life. He is always in my prayers and in my heart; everyday I thank him for this.

I needed a transplant due to kidney failure. It was the 7th year of my dialysis. I was in pain, exhausted and almost giving up, when one early morning I was called for a match. Today, I feel so great as I go back to work as full time registered nurse. For this, I am very grateful to you and to his generosity in donating his organ. I will cherish this gift for the rest of my life.

Thank you very much, O.

Dear Donor Family,

I am writing to thank you for the organ donation from your loved one. I am very sorry for your loss, and I want you to know that your gift has given me a chance to live a normal, productive life.

I needed a transplant because my kidneys failed and I found myself relying on dialysis. This was very hard on me.

Since the transplant, I have been able to resume a normal life that includes traveling, playing softball and surfing again. This last October I was invited to compete and play softball in the Senior Olympics in St. George, Utah. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think that would be possible. You and your loved one made it possible for me to experience so many things that I thought might be lost forever. My family and I will always remember your … Read more »

Dear Donor Family,

I am writing to thank you for the organ donation from your loved one. I am very sorry for your loss, and I want you to know that your gift has given me a chance to live a normal, productive life.

I needed a transplant because I was shot 30 years ago and got Hepatitis C from the blood transfusions. The Hep C caused liver cancer and I had several procedures to get rid of the cancer but it could not clear the cancer from my liver. I took the treatment for Hep C and now with this gift from your loved one I am back to almost normal. Today I was able to cut and split under a cord of fire wood, not bad for a 62 year old man. You and your loved one made it possible for me to experience a … Read more »

“I remind myself how incredible it is that someone like him chose to save someone else, a someone like me”

Dear Donor Family,

I have always had you on my mind and want to express how very, very grateful I was to be able to have someone like your loved one give so greatly of oneself. I am truly sorry for your loss and can only empathize with how awful and saddening that is, but please be aware that this incredible and unconditional gift provides me with the opportunity to live and begin a family with my wife.

Last year I was shocked to find by going into the hospital for severe back problems that it was not a hernia, but something called autoimmune hepatic cirrhosis. It is not very common, but a very serious condition which had damaged my liver excessively. At 41 years old I found it very difficult to wrap my head around the severity of the situation. I had been told I might … Read more »

“Please be comforted to know that a big part of your dear beloved child is continuing to live and thrive with each day!”

To my dearest Donor Family,

Until four years ago, I felt very blessed to enjoy good health. Hard work and golfing were two of my passions. Then suddenly, I learned I had a very serious condition which turned my life around in such a dire way. From living a thriving life to closely not making it on several occasions, I was overwhelmed with fear and sadness.

Then on the weekend of this past Thanksgiving, an amazing thing happened. An Angel came calling. You, my wonderful donor family, provided me with the greatest gift of all… a second chance at life. As a father of three myself, I am sure the loss of your child must be devastating. Everyday, but especially on this Christmas day, I am sure you miss your child deeply, but please be comforted to know that a big part of your dear beloved child … Read more »

Dear Donor Family:

I must have started this letter 10 times trying to find the right words to express my gratitude for my wonderful donor and his family for the ultimate gift I will ever receive. I am so very sorry for your loss but please know that because of your donor’s gift of his liver, I will now be able to live a full life with my wife and children filled with more “tomorrows”.

I am a 57 year old Navy veteran who was diagnosed with liver cancer in March of 2012. Living with this cancer shadowed my every thought everyday of my life. But on November 19, 2015, all this changed because of my gift of a new liver given to me by your loved one. I will now be able to plan fishing trips with my brothers, watch my youngest daughter graduate from … Read more »

I have been blessed with this new lease on life, thanking God for your gift! Even though it was joyful for me, I also gave thought to what had actually happened. I pray for you to be comforted by knowing your loved one’s donation has changed my life. I am now able to continue to do the things I have always done.
