“You and your loved one made it possible for me to experience a functional life again”

Dear Donor Family,

I am writing to thank you for the organ donation from your loved one. I am very sorry for your loss, and I want you to know that your gift has given me a chance to live a normal, productive life.

I needed a transplant because of a liver disease that made it very difficult to participate in my families’ lives.

Since the transplant, I have been able to walk my dog, play golf again and take care of my widowed mother. You and your loved one made it possible for me to experience a functional life again and someday being able to see my children marry and have families of their own. I cannot tell you how blessed I am to have another chance at life and to be able to share it with my wife of thirty-three years.

So, on the first anniversary of the most amazing gift anyone can receive I am truly grateful to you and your loved one. My family and I will always remember your act of kindness and generosity. I will cherish my gift for the rest of my life.

Thank you,

J.
