Dear Donor Family:

I must have started this letter 10 times trying to find the right words to express my gratitude for my wonderful donor and his family for the ultimate gift I will ever receive. I am so very sorry for your loss but please know that because of your donor’s gift of his liver, I will now be able to live a full life with my wife and children filled with more “tomorrows”.

I am a 57 year old Navy veteran who was diagnosed with liver cancer in March of 2012. Living with this cancer shadowed my every thought everyday of my life. But on November 19, 2015, all this changed because of my gift of a new liver given to me by your loved one. I will now be able to plan fishing trips with my brothers, watch my youngest daughter graduate from college, walk my middle daughter down the isle on her wedding day, and watch my oldest son raise his 7 year son, my grandson who brings me such joy. But most importantly I will be able to grow old with my wife; the woman who has been my rock through this long and difficult journey of cancer. Each night, she kisses my surgical scars where my new liver now lives within me and whispers, “Thank You My Sweet Angel.”

Please know that I will cherish this give for the rest of my life and will continue to pray to God that He will continue to Bless you and my Blessed Donor.
