“Today I was able to cut and split under a cord of fire wood, not bad for a 62 year old man”

Dear Donor Family,

I am writing to thank you for the organ donation from your loved one. I am very sorry for your loss, and I want you to know that your gift has given me a chance to live a normal, productive life.

I needed a transplant because I was shot 30 years ago and got Hepatitis C from the blood transfusions. The Hep C caused liver cancer and I had several procedures to get rid of the cancer but it could not clear the cancer from my liver. I took the treatment for Hep C and now with this gift from your loved one I am back to almost normal. Today I was able to cut and split under a cord of fire wood, not bad for a 62 year old man. You and your loved one made it possible for me to experience a healthy life with my wife and son. I hope to see him graduate from college. I’m able to ride my Harley, paint houses, do home repairs and I enjoy being healthy, and strong again.

For this I am grateful to you and your loved one. My family and I will always remember your act of kindness and generosity. I will cherish my gift and take care of myself for the rest of my life.

With sincere thanks,

C.T.
