Dearest Family and Loved Ones of my Organ Donor,
Today is September 11, 2016, and as I think about all that this date means, the emotion is welling up, so I’m
writing this long-overdue letter. From the bottom of my heart and soul, I THANK YOU for allowing me
to receive this gift of a Liver. I say overdue because I was a bit hesitant to write this letter, but today it feels right.
I am almost 54 (next month) and live in San Francisco. I have lived here for 25 years and was a Flight Attendant for United Airlines for 27 years. I am married for a year and a half, though you could say we were engaged for twenty.
We have a chihuahua who’s the love of our life named Sydney. I was very sick for a year due to complications with the liver treatments for Hepatitis C. My liver failed and your loved one’s liver saved my life. I am sorry that it took her death to save me. I am so grateful to her, and you and please know that she’s with me, and I promise to take good care of my gift.
Again, I thank you so much, as does my family.
