“I’ve never been so happy to clean the closets and garage”

Dear Donor Family,

I am writing to thank you for the organ donation from your loved one. I am very sorry for your loss, and I want you to know that your gift has given me a chance to live a normal and productive life.

I needed a transplant because the main artery to my liver was shrinking and hardening, which cut off blood to the liver and caused it to slowly die.

(primary sclerosing colangitis)

It has been 8 months today since the transplant and I have been able to resume my life as I once knew it. I’ve never been so happy to clean the closets and garage. You and your loved one have made it possible for my family and I to go to Lake Tahoe, to hike our favorite trails and just hang out together, talk and laugh again.

For this I am forever grateful to you and your loved one. My family and I will always remember your act of kindness and generosity. I will cherish this gift for the rest of my life.

Thank you so, so much

Kevin
