Dear Donor Family,
I am a 72 year old woman, whose family has a history of polycytic kidney disease, so after a six year wait, I am very grateful for this wonderful gift I have received. Your family member allowed me to be more alive in this world and to have better health. I am truly grateful for this gift and will always be mindful that it was a gift.
I am now able to eat, whatever I want, travel without my dialysis machine and medicine, and also to be more active. I cannot say in words what it means to eat whatever I want, because in the last six years, I had to limit my most favorite foods and because of those limitations, I lost weight and my appetite. This new kidney has many dimension of JOY!
I just want you to know that your family member gave me more time to devote to the things I enjoy, such as volunteering, going to church, walking my dog, going to my book club and more time with my family. I am so blessed to have this new lease on life and will certainly give back to the world, all the goodness that I can. I am honored and blessed.
I will always take good care of this gift and prayed that whoever the donor would be, that this person have a good life and grateful that the decision was made by the donor or the family to give of the organ. There is no way that I could know this person, yet I believe that we are one, and receiving this kidney makes me affirm daily how good humanity is for me and for the world.
Blessings to you and prayers for the donor, always. I am grateful and thankful and know that this is the greatest gift ever.
Forever Thankful,
G.
