Dear Donor Family,

I’m writing this letter to express my sincerest gratitude for the gift of life that your loved one granted me. I am truly sorry for your family in this time of loss. Please know that the donation has provided my family a renewed faith in human compassion.

The gift of life given me has allowed me and my family to continue in pursuit of my chosen life-path. I am an honorably discharged U.S. Marine veteran, Viet Nam era. I have since that time worked in a factory, retiring after 23 years and then returning to school to become a registered alcohol and drug abuse counselor. I work with PTSD combat vets primarily and specialize in working with those who have anger management issues. I am also the father of 4 adult children and grandfather to 9 (at last count) healthy, happy grandkids. … Read more »

Dear Donor Family,

I am writing because my family and I are so grateful for the donation of a liver from your loved one. I am so sorry for your loss. I want you to know that, even though it took me a while to write, I have been thinking of you and your loved one every day. I had some major complications from the transplant surgery, but the liver has been working great all along. Little by little, I am getting stronger and that is thanks to your loved one.

I needed a transplant because I had liver cancer. After the transplant, I was in the hospital for a long time. Now I am home and starting to do normal things again. Two days ago, I went to my first movie since the transplant. Before the transplant, I was wondering if I would … Read more »

Dear Donor Family,

I am writing to thank you for the organ donation from your loved one. I am very sorry for your loss, and I want you to know that your gift has given me a chance to live a normal, productive life.

I needed a transplant because I was dying of liver cancer.

Since the transplant, I now have a new lease on life with my wife at our home. You and your loved one made it possible for me to experience going back to my church and sharing my story as well as being able to thank them for all their love, prayers and support. Through out this whole process they not only prayed for my wife and I but they also lifted up you and your loved one.

For this, I am very grateful to you and your loved one. … Read more »

I am a very fortunate person, as all is going extremely well. We were a perfect match. My two grandchildren 6 and 3 say, “Hey Noni, hows that perfect kidney?” I cry every time. Thank you for your loved one, to be so considerate, to think of others.

To whom it may concern

Hi my name is B. I am writing this letter to thank you for the Kidney donation that I received from your loved one. First of all, I’m sorry for your loss. I would like to send my condolences out to you and your family and I want you to know that your gift has given me a chance to live a normal productive life.

Since the transplant, I feel much better. Before my transplant, I felt weak, tired, and couldn’t walk far or even climb the stairs. I would be out of breath. I had a Kidney transplant back in 2015 but it didn’t last long so I had to go back on dialysis. It was hard for me to start dialysis again but I needed it so I may be with my family and to see my … Read more »

“I am still in the hospital a week after the transplant and they say I’m doing good.”

Dear Donor Family,

I’m writing to you to both give you my condolences for your loss, and to express my sincere appreciation for the liver I received. This liver has given me a chance to live a normal life again.

I had been on the transplant list for 3 years with end stage liver disease. I was told my liver was shot at 35 and my doctors and I had no idea what caused it. Having been given a possible death sentence was difficult.

As of this writing, I am still in the hospital a week after the transplant and they say I’m doing good.

I cannot thank you and your lost loved one enough for this donation and neither can my family. Your loved one’s donation is the best thing I’ve ever received, and I will cherish it for the rest of my life.

My dear Donor Family,

I am so sorry for your recent bereavement. The loss of a son, father, brother, husband, and grandfather in the prime of life is so very hard to bear. I empathize with you in your pain and sorrow. But what a truly wonderful gift he left as his living legacy towards us organ transplant recipients. I will never forget the date of my transplant as my re-birthday. I was sitting at lunch with my caregiver, who just flown in the night before, when I got a call from one of the UCSF transplant coordinators, asking if I could be a back-up recipient, I immediately said “yes,” since I felt a special tingle at mass that morning, hinting that something special would happen that day. The transplant coordinator called back two hours later and approved my admission to the hospital! I was … Read more »

My Dear Donor Family,

I want to express my condolences for the loss of your loved one. My hope is that your receiving of this letter may help you through your grieving process.

I have been married for 36 years and we have 4 children, 5 grandchildren and one more due in April this year.

I have been fighting liver and kidney disease since 2004 when it was first diagnosed. In the last 3 years I have been especially sick and getting weaker. In the last year, my husband and I had resigned to the reality that the life I knew on earth would soon come to an end. Only through our faith in God and prayers from so many people did we believe and seek help for a successful treatment.

I had taken a fall and broke one leg is several places, … Read more »

“Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again”. Luke 6:38

Hello, my name is Kyle. I am the person who received your gracious gift of life. Through your kindness and generosity, I am able to live a normal life with my wife and family. I do not have the words to tell you how thankful we are and at the same time feel the sorrow your family has for your loss.

And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Peter 1:7-8
