I needed a transplant because I was dealing with dialysis for 10 years. My dialysis access was getting big and ugly and I was always so tired. Since the transplant, I have been able to leave dialysis and have more energy to start my life again.

As someone who is in awe of your generosity, I want to share with you who I am. I’m in my late thirties, currently reside in northern California, and extremely close to my family. I am a 72 year old woman, whose family has a history of polycytic kidney disease, so after a six year wait, I am very grateful for this wonderful gift I have received. Your family member allowed me to be more alive in this world and to have better health. I am truly grateful for this gift and will always be mindful that it was a gift.

I am now able to eat, whatever I want, travel without my dialysis machine and medicine, and also to be more active. I received my kidney on Sept. 8, 2017. I just want to thank you for another life that you gave me, the chance to live my life normally, to fulfill my dream of having a family, I am married but we still don’t have kids because I was on dialysis but now with the gift that you gave me, I can now have my own family. And fulfill my dream.

Dear Donor Family

I am writing this letter, to thank you for the gift I received from your loved one last year. My transplant date will be a day that I will cherish, and never forget as long as I live.

I was at the point where my liver was getting ready to fail, when I was put on the transplant list. I was told that there is no specific time or date that one will be available. But I kept my hope and trust in the Lord, and asked him to give me strength and patience as I waited for a donors liver.
