Dear donor family,

My name is X. I just want to thank you for giving my husband the amazing opportunity to have a better quality of life. His kidneys were burned due to high fevers as a child and not being treated.

He’s a great husband, father and grandfather, we have been married close to 30 years.

He’s a hardworking man, he was on dialysis for 9 years. He is still recovering but I can tell you he is better now!

I just want to let you know that he’s doing very good and we don’t have the words to thank you enough!

Dear donor family,

Today is my one year mark since receiving my life saving liver.

This is a bittersweet day for me and my family. The joy of a second chance is tempered by knowing the loss you have suffered. I want you to know that not a day goes by that I don’t thank God for my second chance, but at the same time reflect on what you have gone through. I am forever grateful.

Dear Donor Family,

I am writing to thank you for the organ donation from your loved one. I am very sorry for your loss, and I want you to know that your gift has given me a chance to live a normal, productive life.

I needed a transplant because I had an end stage disease and was on dialysis for 5 years.

Since the transplant, I have been able to not be on such a restricted diet, and experience more freedom rather than being connected to a machine for 10 hours a night. You and your loved one made it possible for me to experience that.

I received your loved one’s precious gift of life (liver). I am truly sorry for your family’s loss and I hope that it brings you peace in knowing your donation has allowed me to become healthy again.

I’m a middle-aged woman with one son. Two years ago, I was diagnosed with stage 4 Cirrhosis. I was in shock, I had no idea my fatty liver would lead to Cirrhosis. I was later admitted to the hospital with liver failure. I was gravely ill and not confident I would receive a liver in time. The amazing transplant doctors let me know that they found a perfect match for me. A few weeks later, I received a successful transplant. I would like to begin by giving you my deepest condolence to you and your family for your loss.

My name is Maria. I was diagnosed with kidney failure in at age 41 . I was devastated knowing that if something happened to me, my young son would have been growing up without his mom.

I started out with PD dialysis at home and within time it started not working for me. I started getting swelled up from the minute that I would get up from bed until it was time for me to connect to a machine that was suppose to be cleaning my system out. This was an everyday routine for me.

I am sending this on behalf of your kidney organ recipient, and family.

She was in need of both a kidney and liver transplant.

Her children began testing to see if they could be a match. Only two of were available to donate a kidney, but neither were a match. The youngest daughter matched for her liver, but a kidney match was still needed to move forward.

At that point, our family made the decision to join the pair exchanged program. Her daughter decided to offer herself as the kidney donor.
