“I had to do dialysis at home 7 days a week for 8 and a half hours a day.”

Dear Donor Family,

I am writing to thank you for the organ donation from your loved one. I am very sorry for your loss, and I want you to know that your gift has given me a chance to live a normal, productive life.

I needed a transplant because I had stage 5 kidney failure. I had to do dialysis at home 7 days a week for 8 and a half hours a day.

Since the transplant, I have been able to enjoy more family gatherings and get out of the house more often because I am not so tired or feeling sick from the dialysis process. You and your loved one have made it possible for me to be able to see my grandchildren graduate in a few years and to be able to celebrate my 20 year wedding anniversary this year.

For this, I am very grateful to you and your loved one. My family and I will always remember your act of kindness and generosity. I will cherish my gift for the rest of my life.

Thank you,
F.
