“I am able to continue to be a husband, father and grandfather”

Dear Donor Family,
I am writing to thank you for the organ donation of your loved one. First I am very deeply sorry for your loss. Words can’t express how grateful I am to you. Because of your thoughtful, unselfish and precious gift I am able to continue on this journey and God’s purpose for my life.

I needed a transplant because I had Hepatitis C, cirrhosis and cancer of the liver due to my life/style when I was younger. At age 36, I gave my life to Christ. For the last 25 years I’ve been walking with the Lord. My faith was tested in so many ways, before the transplant I was limited in what I could do physically. I couldn’t walk a block without getting out of breath, certain functions I couldn’t attend because of my condition which was getting worse. Then on the day I received your loved one’s gift, a new chapter in my life began. I am 61 years old, married with 10 children, 29 grandchildren.

Thanks to your precious gift, I am able to enjoy life, fishing, playing with my grandchildren. I am able to continue to be a husband, father and grandfather. A leader, mentor, a witness & example to others that there is a better life than the one we chose. There’s hope and a better future in spite of what mistakes or wrong choices we’ve made. My life’s mission is to give hope to those that are trapped in that life/style that almost took my life, and let them know that there’s a way out. The best gift that we can give any one is Christ. He is my life and thanks to your precious gift, I can continue to do the work that He’s called me to do. My family and I thank you and pray for you and your family.

Truly thankful,
C.
