“Last October, I was invited to compete in the Senior Olympics. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think that would be possible”

Dear Donor Family,

I am writing to thank you for the organ donation from your loved one. I am very sorry for your loss, and I want you to know that your gift has given me a chance to live a normal, productive life.

I needed a transplant because my kidneys failed and I found myself relying on dialysis. This was very hard on me.

Since the transplant, I have been able to resume a normal life that includes traveling, playing softball and surfing again. This last October I was invited to compete and play softball in the Senior Olympics in St. George, Utah. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think that would be possible. You and your loved one made it possible for me to experience so many things that I thought might be lost forever. My family and I will always remember your act of kindness and generosity. I will cherish my gift for the rest of my life.

Please know that I am always open to talking with you.

Thank you,

J.
