“Your gift has now enabled me to smile and feel real joy again”

Dear Donor Family,

I am writing to thank you for the organ donation from your loved one. I am very sorry for your loss, and I want you to know that your gift has given me a chance to live a normal, productive life. I am 48 years young, and my wife and I just bought our first home together April 2016. Your gift has now enabled me to smile and feel real joy again. To see and appreciate my life in a new way. I have been unable to work for the past year and a half and now, almost 6 weeks post transplant, I am working hard to get strong enough to get back into the workforce I have been a part of for the past 32 years. I worked as an Outside Sales Rep for a major Heavy Equipment Rental Company.

My wife and I enjoy spending as much time outdoors as we can. We are both very close with our families and being able now to share more of me with my two Grandchildren is priceless.

I needed a transplant because I had a failing liver. (The surgeons told me I would not have been here for Christmas.)

Since the transplant, I have been able to live life once again as I knew it before I became terminally ill. You and your loved one made it possible for me to experience an awakening that has been nothing short of a miracle. Please know that I will honor and treasure the gift of life you and your loved one shared with me and my family.

For this, I am eternally grateful to you and your loved one. My family and I will always remember your act of kindness, selflessness and generosity. I will cherish my gift for the rest of my life.

We would be more than willing to share more with your family if you would like. I would love to know about your lost loved one and whom they were.

Thank you,

Your recipient
