After 10 years of operations, we are shutting down the TNet online letter system (also known as the “User Portal” or “TNet Portal”).

Over the years, deceased donor organ transplant recipients have sent 1000s of beautiful letters of appreciation to their donor’s families through TNet. You can view some of these letters here.

“He was on dialysis for 9 years”

posted in: Letters | 0

Dear donor family,

My name is X. I just want to thank you for giving my husband the amazing opportunity to have a better quality of life. His kidneys were burned due to high fevers as a child and not being treated.

He’s a great husband, father and grandfather, we have been married close to 30 years.

He’s a hardworking man, he was on dialysis for 9 years. He is still recovering but I can tell you he is better now!

I just want to let you know that he’s doing very good and we don’t have the words to thank you enough!

Dear donor family,

Today is my one year mark since receiving my life saving liver.

This is a bittersweet day for me and my family. The joy of a second chance is tempered by knowing the loss you have suffered. I want you to know that not a day goes by that I don’t thank God for my second chance, but at the same time reflect on what you have gone through. I am forever grateful.

Thank you for the gift you have given me!

Sincerely,

Your recipient

“I can experience more freedom rather than being connected to a machine for 10 hours a night”

Dear Donor Family,

I am writing to thank you for the organ donation from your loved one. I am very sorry for your loss, and I want you to know that your gift has given me a chance to live a normal, productive life.

I needed a transplant because I had an end stage disease and was on dialysis for 5 years.

Since the transplant, I have been able to not be on such a restricted diet, and experience more freedom rather than being connected to a machine for 10 hours a night. You and your loved one made it possible for me to experience that.

For this, I am forever grateful to you and your loved one. My family and I will always remember your act of kindness and generosity. I will cherish my gift for the rest of my life.

Thank you,

Your recipient

Dear Donor Family,

I am writing to thank you for the organ donation from your loved one. I am very sorry for your loss, and I want you to know that your gift has given me a chance to live a normal, productive life.

I needed a transplant because my liver developed a cancer lesion about a year ago before the transplant and my kidneys were failing due to kidney disease.

Since the transplant, I have been able to rebuild my life and create a new career that is still in progress. Furthermore, I continue to carry the message of AA (31 years of sobriety) and I share with my fellow members the gift of life that was given to me. I have been filled with joy to able to keep up with my great nephews; one is a teenager and his little brother is a toddler. My … Read more »

“I thought you might like to know how things are going”

Dear Donor:

I am a dad with three kids currently working at a state prison. I’ve been working there for 13 years. Four years ago I was diagnosed with polycystic kidney disease, this disease has attacked my family for generations. There are no words that can truly express my feelings for you; it takes a special kind of person to make such a sacrifice. I would like you to know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers every day. I know I will never be able to thank you enough for giving me a second chance at life.

I thought you might like to know how things are going. The doctor says everything is progressing extremely well. I have had no signs of rejection and the kidney is functioning extremely well. It has been about two weeks since the operation at the time I … Read more »

“Since the transplant, I feel alive, healthy and productive”

Dear Donor Family,

I received your loved one’s precious gift of life (liver). I am truly sorry for your family’s loss and I hope that it brings you peace in knowing your donation has allowed me to become healthy again.

I’m a middle-aged woman with one son. Two years ago, I was diagnosed with stage 4 Cirrhosis. I was in shock, I had no idea my fatty liver would lead to Cirrhosis. I was later admitted to the hospital with liver failure. I was gravely ill and not confident I would receive a liver in time. The amazing transplant doctors let me know that they found a perfect match for me. A few weeks later, I received a successful transplant. I was extremely overjoyed for the donation, yet, saddened for your loss.

Since the transplant, I feel alive, healthy and productive. I haven’t experienced these feelings in … Read more »

“I am very grateful for your family for changing my life around”

I would like to begin by giving you my deepest condolence to you and your family for your loss.

My name is Maria. I was diagnosed with kidney failure in at age 41 . I was devastated knowing that if something happened to me, my young son would have been growing up without his mom.

I started out with PD dialysis at home and within time it started not working for me. I started getting swelled up from the minute that I would get up from bed until it was time for me to connect to a machine that was suppose to be cleaning my system out. This was an everyday routine for me.

I felt that I couldn’t enjoy my time with my son. I did that for 2 years until I started feeling sick. I was experiencing shortness of breath until I ended up … Read more »
