Hello,

First and foremost, we would like to offer our deepest condolences for your loss. Our hearts are heavy knowing you are grieving the loss of your loved one while we celebrate the renewed health of our loved one. When we received the call that an organ had become available we prayed not only for our loved one but also for your family. Your family has been in our thought and prayers ever since.

Please know that your loved one’s kidney went to an amazing individual. A person who makes this world a better place. A person who will never abuse or take this gift for granted.

When I asked him what he is most excited for, with this second chance at life, he said he is excited to simply feel better. To have energy once again. To be able to drink … Read more »

Dear, Donor Family,

I can not thank you enough for the donation of a kidney from your loved one. I was in need of a kidney transplant because I was born with Congenital Kidney Defect. This transplant has given me a new perspective on life. It has given me a chance at a normal life. I can now enjoy the foods we all love, I can now enjoy the shower and go swimming. I can now continue with school, to become a nurse, so that I can help others the way you have helped me.

I’m about to turn 20 years old. I enjoy scrapbooking, because moments are too precious to miss. I enjoy riding my bike and walking around town enjoying the view. I also enjoy working and riding around on my grandpa’s motorcycle with him. My plan in life is to help … Read more »

Dear Donor Family,

I am writing to thank you for the organ donation from your loved one. I am very sorry for your loss, and I want you to know that your gift has given me a chance to live a normal, productive life.

I needed a transplant because I had cancer of the liver. My wife donated a portion of her liver to me a month prior but it didn’t work.

Since the transplant, almost 15 years ago, my wife and I have became pastors at our church and we often use this time in our lives as a testimony to everyone. You and your loved one made it possible for me to experience new adventures and journeys.

For this, we are and always will be very grateful to you and your loved one. My family and I will always remember your act of … Read more »

I needed a transplant because I had Kidney failure and was on Dialysis for a very long time.

Since the transplant, I have been able to spend more time with my children and husband without being connected to a Dialysis machine 4 times a week. You and your loved one made it possible for me to believe in miracles and to be able to live a healthy longer life, to be here for my children and see them grow.

For this, I am very grateful to you and your loved one. My family and I will always remember your act … Read more »

Dear Donor Family,

I am writing to thank you for the organ donation from your loved one. I am very sorry for your loss, and I want you to know that your gift has given me a chance to live a normal and productive life.

I needed a transplant because the main artery to my liver was shrinking and hardening, which cut off blood to the liver and caused it to slowly die.

(primary sclerosing colangitis)

It has been 8 months today since the transplant and I have been able to resume my life as I once knew it. I’ve never been so happy to clean the closets and garage. You and your loved one have made it possible for my family and I to go to Lake Tahoe, to hike our favorite trails and just hang out together, talk and laugh again.

Dearest Family and Loved Ones of my Organ Donor,

Today is September 11, 2016, and as I think about all that this date means, the emotion is welling up, so I’m writing this long-overdue letter. From the bottom of my heart and soul, I THANK YOU for allowing me to receive this gift of a Liver. I say overdue because I was a bit hesitant to write this letter, but today it feels right.

I am almost 54 (next month) and live in San Francisco. I have lived here for 25 years and was a Flight Attendant for United Airlines for 27 years. I am married for a year and a half, though you could say we were engaged for twenty.

We have a chihuahua who’s the love of our life named Sydney. I was very sick for a year due to complications with the … Read more »

“You have freed me up from dialysis, virtually giving me 16 hours a week”

Dear unknown donor,

Words can barely describe the gratitude I feel for receiving your kidney. I would like to personally meet and thank you when we are both fully recovered. Your kidney is performing at 110% helping to make my recovery faster.

I live on the outskirts of a city in California where I have a horse and carriage business. I had a previous transplant in 2000, which was a direct donation from a friend of mine. It lasted 15 years, about a year past average of transplants done in 2000. Best wishes to your friend for whom you donated, looking forward to hearing from you. You have freed me up from dialysis, virtually giving me 16 hours a week and making the ability to travel with my large family mush easier. My wife and I have four kids between us, seven grandchildren, a … Read more »
