Dear Donor Family,
I am writing to tell you how sorry I am for your loss and I want you to know that your gift has given me a chance to live a normal, productive life.
I needed a transplant because I had liver disease from a transfusion that I received in 1960. The transfusion caused Hepatitis C, which led to liver disease/cancer.
I received the transplant last month. The surgery was early in the morning. I am so grateful to your family for giving me the chance to continue my life. I have 3 kids. One was just married in December and will be graduating college in June. The other 2 are recent college grads as well. I look forward to sharing these times with my children. Hoping for grandchildren in the future.
I am so grateful to your loved one for such an unselfish gift. I am hoping to support Organ Donation and try to bring more awareness to the process. It has become a very important cause for me as it must have been for your loved one.
My family and I will always remember your act of kindness and generosity and I will cherish my gift for the rest of my life.
Once again, thank you and may your loved one rest in peace.
Sincerely,
L.
