I would like to begin by giving you my deepest condolence to you and your family for your loss.
My name is Maria. I was diagnosed with kidney failure in at age 41 . I was devastated knowing that if something happened to me, my young son would have been growing up without his mom.
I started out with PD dialysis at home and within time it started not working for me. I started getting swelled up from the minute that I would get up from bed until it was time for me to connect to a machine that was suppose to be cleaning my system out. This was an everyday routine for me.
I felt that I couldn’t enjoy my time with my son. I did that for 2 years until I started feeling sick. I was experiencing shortness of breath until I ended up in the emergency room. It turned out that dialysis was not working for me anymore.
I thought I wasn’t going to make it. I then switched to Hemodialysis which did work for me but again taking time from my son.
I just wanted to let you know what I went thru before my transplant. I am very grateful for your family for changing my life around.
